Gods Little Rebel

An acid like tear slid down my cheek
As I walked the cold endless street.
My eyelids stuck to my skull with pins,
In a similar fashion my lips were knit.

Arose did the oohs and ahhs of the jeering ‘aud,
Like a circus animal I was being watched.
I could not feel my toes with shoeless feet,
They said: See the beast!- For a small fee.

My eyes they burnt, I could not blink;
With my mouth sewn, I could not speak.
I could only see the horror ahead,
I could not remember as to where I had been.

Where I’ve been, where I will go;
It’s just me starring in another freakshow.
Oh the twisted faces the crowd do make!
As they laugh and jeer for a no-mans sake.

Their eyes have been sewn,
They do not see.
But the lips of the serpent,
Command Jackals them to be.

The forked tongue of the snake,
Casts illusions in their minds.
What they see,
Is just the snakes cruel plight.

So on I walk, Through water, Glass or coal.
Wounded and hurt,
But with a confident soul.

They may mangle and torture me,
With not a guilt.
But there is one thing they cannot break,
My soul, so strongly built.

My eyes were pinned,
So I could forever see.
My lips were sewn,
For I would never speak.

I could only watch,
As they worshipped the devil.
And there on that mercifless road, Stood I.
The only angelic rebel.

My wings had been clipped,
My halo thrashed.
But love, with you on my mind,
I did not walk alone on that path…
