Broken Fence

I allow many to enter my life
Leaving footprints of pain and darkness
Why must I be the victim of broken infatuation
Not once do my feelings come into view
hidden behind the weeds and dead plants
Open to anyone who has a charming smile and slick touch

Love me for the moment and I shall bare your memories eternally
Give me your pain and I shall bear your sorrow
Entering my garden and feeding off my fruit
The snakes take what they desire and leave nothing intact

Suffering years and longing for a gardener to protect my harvest
Blinded by the rotten fruit and termite infested wood
By the time unworthy souls are visible
they have already captured my being
Lost in an oasis of darkness
The light I need the sun will not allow me to receive
Dried up and incapable of producing anything worthy of happiness
My fence shall remain open to those who desire a sudden moment of
satisfaction
