My Heart

I gave it to you
But you threw it on the ground
Shattered it in pieces
And tossed them all around

I trusted you with it
But you really didn’t care
You lied right to it’s face
With your oh so perfect stare

It was so in love with you
But you only pretended to be
How could you be so foolish
To think that it would never see

The truth behind your lies
And the secrets through your smile
You should have known you’d be caught
If you just gave it a little while

My head kept telling it to listen
Because it knew all along
That my heart was just too blind to see
That it was humming a tuneless song

My heart, you see, is now broken
Because you threw it on the ground
Shattered it in pieces
And tossed them all around

But I am here, to fix it
Pick up the pieces you shattered everywhere
Because I am not too blind to see
Right through your heartbreaking stare

I’m done with your games
And so is my heart
It can’t take it anymore
Because you broke it apart

I gave it to you
But now I’m giving it back to me
So it can let go of your love
And then I shall set it free
