Silence

A boy anxiously awaits for when he can run and play.
"Don't go too far," called his mother,
"And close you shall stay!"
She turned her back one moment,
Then all time stood still,
for in that one brief moment.

Silence.
Her little boy was killed.

The streets now filled with screams of a mother,
now alone.
Too shocked to mutter a word
Scared to return to an empty home.

Silence.

Stricken with sorrow, grief, and shame, she looses it.
Falling to her knees, she holds herself to blame.
Weeping aloud she cries out,
"Oh God! Please, let him be okay!"

Silence.

But my dear sweet mother, understand.
God took his pain away.
