If I can pray to a hopeful moon
And think it'll all be over soon;
My night will answer prayer with dawn
And cast my heart a "once upon.."

If my instincts bare more than my past
My time runs away with my night's cast
And the black hole that is my home
Creates such fate for me alone

A summer's cold that has left a rose
Will poison even the purest nose
The winter conquers all but hands
That hold up autumn's reprimands

No sun, please note, can render you blind
Only star's light can block off the mind
The brightest one that we all know
Has never known which way to go

If the moon responds and grants a dream
My "once upon.." won't rip at the seam
What shadows touch will disappear
Though dawn was always stable here
