He Told Me

He was sent from above
“Angel” understates
So far beyond perfect
Sent straight from heavens gates

He brought smiles and laughter
And he melted my heart
But I just knew, somehow
He was too perfect, from the start

Too good to be true
But real he was
I knew he served some purpose
He wasn’t here just because

He brought family together
And made everything right
Until, one day
He was taken from my sight

It shattered my heart
I wasn’t ready to let him go
But I had to anyway
Because God told me so

He said I could keep him
In my heart and my mind
And there, he shall stay
Our hearts, intertwined

God told me to smile
And to dry up my tears
He told me Dakotah’s happy
And to let go of my fears

For he’s not alone
But instead encircled by love
Sent straight from my heart
To his, far above

And he watches over me
With God by his side
Resting assured
In such a heavenly place to reside

In Memory Of
Dakotah
