Forbidden Dreams

A light brightens once again my troubled spirit:
She - with her fiery-red hair
and lithe young form -
invites me to dream forbidden dreams.

Things I thought long hidden now leap anew
from the abyss of my emptiness –
only to pause at the edge of forbidden dreams.

My mind has awakened; my intellect touched,
for I see forbidden dreams in a softer light.

She wears another’s name in this time.
Another man’s wife is why
my voice lacks courage;
my soul is content,
why I now dream forbidden dreams.
