The Poet

"You're ignorant" they say unknowingly
clinging desperately to a dreamlike deception
of a reality in which none is as it seems.

Not fazed by the anguish which smothers
those struggling to influence the nothing
that is our society today.

Here and now the stifling silence
of failure, an inability to portray
that which the soul seeks to explore.

Setting the goals they fail to reach
because the screaming around them is too loud
it prevents them from focusing.

Streams of irrelevant babble flow
freely onto smooth blank paper as
it's unwanted elsewhere, elsewhen.

Audiences blinking in admonishment against
the wave of resistance that brings to the knees
powerful society through the words of but a few.

The pen, though less than mighty holds it's own
against the sharp-edged sword that is denial
of the eternity which binds the silent.

Freely speaking, freely seeking the edge of reality
all that is, was and will be spread naked for
all but the mundane to analyze and justify.

Broken humanity facing nothing but dark nothingness
unless one speaks up amidst the silence.

The Poet begins.
