Diving Deeper

Sometimes I watch you as you sleep.
The innocence I know you hold so deep.
The smile only I see.
The person you hate to be.

I don’t understand why you’re so fake.
Why you choose my heart to break.
Pretending to be a person your not,
So with the bottom of the bottle I fought.

Incomplete,
The way you left me.
Struggling to be what you want me to be.

Diving deeper into my high,
Awaiting your fateful goodbye.
Hiding in the shadow of what used to be,
To drunk to leave.

Becoming a victim to the numbness,
Trying to forgive your heartlessness.
Break me down deeper baby
And maybe…
The bottle won’t be the only thing that forgives you.
