I Must Have Been Wrong

I thought it was love
But I must have been wrong
Because you left me all alone
Humming a tuneless song

Lying in the dark
Drowning in my tears
Reminiscing on old memories
That we've made over the years

I thought it was love
But it must have been lust
because you stole my heart
And left my soul in the dust

And took with you, my pride
My trust and sanity
Why did you call it love
Why not say, you just 'lust me'

Why did you let me fall
So deep in love with you
When you knew all along
That your words were never true

I thought it was love
How could i be so naive
To fall for your lies
Into a world of make believe

I should have known better
But my heart, meant no harm
It just started beating for you
And your oh so perfect charm

I thought it was love
But you knew from the start
That you were going to hurt me
And leave me torn all apart

I guess I was a fool
You can say, joke's on me
Before I was too blind
But now I clearly see

You got what you wanted
And crept away into the night
Though I can't erase you from my heart
You are at least out of my sight
