today i said goodbye
i laid my thoughts to rest
i walked away out into the rain

i don't know if you watched me walk away
maybe you were glad to see the back of me
if it meant to move on happy and free

i stared into the void
and let the rain drown me
but i could breath easy

my insides smiled
maybe i grinned
but at that moment i was overwhelmed

there's no point dwelling
on all the might'ves and the could've beens
let this dying memory die

i didn't need to look back when i walked away
as soon as i let you go
you were gone

it felt good to be in your presence
but it feels better
that my heart is free

so i walked away out into the rain
instead of staying under the shelter
because i became strong enough
to fight on my own.

thankyou.
