I'm Not Your Drug

He looked at me with glassy eyes
Dazed, incoherent, compromised
He said "You are my drug" you make me numb inside
"Addicted, I need more," and I just started to cry

I can't give myself totally without abandon
To one whose self control is at best random
The next high will take you away scrambling
Leaving only a yellow post-it memorandum

Apologizing in your unscheduled absence
That you found another elusive absinthe
Another pretty painted bling
That left you breathless, tingling and needing
only more.
