What I've Learned From You

Getting a high school diploma
can show proof of your knowledge,
and you can learn many things
by attending some fancy college.
The most important lessons in life
don't come attached to some degree.
Finding your heart's one true love
can teach you so much for free.
No amount of written words
could ever begin to express
how much I've learned from you,
or how this heart beats in my chest.
You've given me the courage
to give a second chance,
shown me the music in your heart
can lead a lovely dance.
I've learned it's ok to let go
of the pain from the past;
how to hold onto love
that will forever last.
From you I've learned how to smile,
I know how it feels to be trusted.
But most of all I've learned
a heart can heal once it's been busted.
Because of you, I've learned to stop running,
you've made me feel so safe and so secure.
You've given me so many reasons
to stay and build a life together here.
I've learned that my tears
are never alone as they fall,
because your caring hands are there
to help them stop and catch them all.
You've taught me about life.
From you, I've learned to love.
We share something so special,
something others only dream of.
I've learned that our pasts
have made us who we are,
and I've learned not just to give,
but to trust another with my heart.
You've taught me that magic
lies behind every kiss,
and that sparks will forever fly
with the power of love like this.
My most cherished lesson learned
is that true love is real.
You've shown me how to love,
you've taught me how to feel.
