I thought I knew you better
I was true to you from the start
Funny how things work out
I used to be so smart

They said to keep my eye on you
I pushed them all away
I finally let down my guard
And now I curse the day

And you're everywhere
I want you out of my head
because you never cared
about a word I ever said

And yes I'm hurt
you know what you've done
And that's the worst
well I hope you have fun

You always said you're not that guy
I should have known
I've heard that line

And I've written this poem so many times
different versions, for different guys

I just never imagined I would ever write yours
I've said that about the others
but this time I was sure

The others hurt my feelings
this time it was my heart
I still just can't believe it
there's nothing to impart

I'll always be here if you need me
though there's no hope in the thought that you do
I don't know if you've ever believed me
I never trusted anyone as much as you
