Watchin' the Clock

I'm waitin', watchin' the clock-
It's 9 o'clock, can't stop thinkin' of her.
You open the door, I roll over.
Pretend to sleep, thinkin' she won't know.

You come over, whisper love in my ear.
You say you love me, can't wait till I wake up.
All the while I dream of color, dream of black and white.
I can't find anyone better.
Oh...
Can't find anyone better.

You tell yourself there's nobody better,
You tell yourself
Oh...
While the memories of when you were young
Come back to sting at your deepest feelings.
You swear you knew it all along,
Looking back at it all you never thought of yourself.

I've hurt them like you can never know.
I wake up, watchin' the clock,
It's ten o'clock, you're passed out beside me,
And your arm around me, oh, this is when
I know you are the one it's all been worth it for.

Hear me how you'd like, I roll over,
Whisper love in your ear, I'm not ready for goodbye.
I lie when I say it's all been easy-
I've given up so much, taken in so little.
But this is when I know it's all been worth it.

Oh...
Watchin' the clock, it's one o'clock.
I roll over, kiss your forehead.
This is how you know that it's all over
And now we can live forever-
These guilty hands have got no answers.
