United We Fall

It doesn’t seem like it’s been a year,
I still look back and I still fear.
I didn’t expect to cry that day,
Only because I had no idea what was on the way.
After I saw the tragedy,
I wanted to close my eyes.
It came to our country as a complete surprise.
I watched helplessly as the second tower fell,
And I thought to myself, “whoever did this is going to hell”.
Our whole country was in tears,
Every emotion was brought out,
Especially our fears.
Our freedom as we know it still stands today,
And I thank God every minute he didn’t take it away.
America has always been the land of the free,
Home of the brave,
I believe it because of the lives people gave.
Bravery was shown in a single minute,
And the heroes didn’t think twice before they did it.
Now that day is here that day of infamy,
I still want to turn my head,
I still don’t want to see.
We wanted to shield this nation,
From the darkness about to unfold.
Now we’ll never hear the stories those people could have told.
Out of every darkness comes a light,
Ours was watching out country unite.
So many innocent lives were taken that day,
And the rest of out lives are completely changed.
New York just isn’t the same,
Without those two buildings standing tall,
This goes to prove,
United We Stand,
United We Fall.
