I always said I’d never fall,
But then you came and changed it all
When I first saw you standing there,
You facing me, the wind in your hair.
Came toward me, slowly, a little stumbling.
But it was all I could do to keep from crumbling.
Then we sat down and talked for a while,
Everything you did made me laugh and smile.
I got lost in your deep brown eyes,
I felt as if you could tell me no lies.
I still feel that way today,
I still look at you in that same way
That always makes me weak in the knees
And fumble and stutter and constantly freeze.
When I’m in your arms I know I’m alright
Even when the storm rages into the night.
So hold me now, as I am scared.
I don’t know where I’m headed, and that some don’t care.
No matter where I go or what I do,
I know I can always count on you
To give me confidence and revere,
And when I’m lost you’ll help me steer.
No matter what you do or what you say,
It’ll always be like when we met that day.
You caught my eye and stole my heart,
And I pray we’ll never be apart.
We took our love and held it there,
To keep and protect and nourish and care.
If ever you need me I’ll stop on a dime.
I promise to love you till the end of time.
Though the future’s uncertain, one thing’s clear:
As long as I’m with you there’s nothing to fear.
