Our Moon

One night I heard a sound, I looked but nothing found
I turned and heard again, the sound as of a friend
In turning back I see, the moon was watching me
You held me in your arms, and rid me of my harms
We talk on through the night, and bathed in brightest light
It came from up on high, Looking on us from the sky
So big and bright the light, that watched us through the night
It guided us to touch, I trembled far too much
The light lit up your face, this glow from outer space
What is this strange new force, that guides our desperate course
It makes no sound to hear, yet follows me everywhere
Any time I think of you, it is he that shines the room
I thank my lucky stars, for this Neighbor out near Mars
He shone on me that night, and made my future bright
See it was you he sent to me, and set my spirit free
Now just twelve hours after noon, I look into the sky
And find the reason why, it’s Our Moon
