Waiting for Later

I have reached the age of want,
The age at which I search for one.
Yet when I look, I'm all alone
Still waiting for that special someone.

I am neither striking or easy.
I speak my mind and joke around.
All the boys around my age,
Do not wish for such a thing.

I meet a man who listens to me,
Giving a moment in his day,
Telling me to wait, for I will be found.
If only he weren't 23.

And here is another,
Who reveals his pandora's box,
Until he realizes that he id.
Turning the tables, he gives me advice:
"Guys are stupid"
Too bad he's 24.

Sulking away, I befriend another.
Sharing his ideas with me,
I hears thing no one else has.
He tells me that I'm special,
That I'm not a ditz.
Alas, he's 26.

Friends I am left with,
But no matter.
They are all special to me
And let me see what I've yet to find.

Thought I've reached the age of love,
It remains beyond my reach.
Years I must wait, but the time will come.
For I've learned wisdom comes with age...
And so must love.
