or
SIMPLY SATYA
There is this womyn *
to whom the extraordinary is casual
and everyday a spiritual journey.
She is a womyn
who’s not only known suffering,
but knows she’s no victim.
She is immortally
afflicted with compassion
and gives like a well-spring,
but she’s honest
as the grit inside the pearls of her passions
or the thorn on the rose of her concern.
She encourages, involves,
supports and promotes all sparks of talent,
fanning them to blaze,
enduring heat
that could blister anyone
of lesser commitment,
then campaigns, contributes,
counsels, publishes, markets,
coordinates and consults,
while being wife, mother, writer, activist
advisor, healer, therapist, chauffeur, chef, gypsy, cynic,
Berkeley-mama and Auntie Mame.
Some fear, some revere
this womyn who knows she’s been a goddess
and always will be so.
* the spelling of womyn is deliberate and intended to indicate respect
for the gender rather than a subordination to man.
