If I should wake to find my life’s a dream.
then, after morning stretch, what would I do?
What would I find to be my true life’s scheme --
a similar routine or something new,
a life familiar, perhaps even dull
compared to the adventure of the dream?
It just might prove to be a vehicle
of reassurance, or it might redeem
my spirit from a chosen path gone wrong
and after waking I’d call it nightmare.
I might do all that I could to prolong
The vision of the dream so sweet and fair,
attempting to ignore the wake-up call;
I might remember nothing of it all.
