MOVIE GONE

It’s been long enough now for the movie
of our romance, that once gala-premiered,
to be edited for view on T.V.
Love’s state-of-the-art’s grown passé, as feared,
And yet somehow I am still not ready
to flip stations or go out to the show,
since, as fans go, I’ve always been steady
(though some favorites, I’ve had to outgrow).

I’ll stay in tonight and watch the re-run,
picking out my long-time favorite scenes,
remembering the adventure and fun
and, by heart, all of the dramatic means
that lead to the eventual known end.
My premiere-love has become an old friend.
