Beauty comes in many forms
And to the lonely it seems
Only one can find true beauty
In the sanctity of dreams

Hearts ache for souls to match their own
Deeper the feeling delves
Those who cannot find fulfillment
Look for it within themselves

A man lay restless asleep
His spirit a realm away
Searching, searching for what he craves
Hoping to lead loneliness astray

Beneath the bright red moon
Below the purple trees
Across a midnight expanse of land
Only one thing he sees

A Lady dressed in light
Shining against the night
Looking at him softly, knowing all his fears
Washing them all away and bringing him to tears

All he’s ever wanted
A soul to match his own
Knowing now as he reaches for her
That he’ll never be alone

Her skin appears so fair
But as he extends
He realizes she is not there
Of his love he cannot make amends

And soon all things are coming at him
Land, moon and sea
But all his eyes espy
Is blackness; blackness like her hair
Waves of ebony

Awoken was he in dampness
His face wet with sadness
Groping around for nothing
His heart beating in raging madness

Knowing that she was not real
Merely meant to seem
In strife, he took his life
In hopes for one without dream
