I gave it all away
Thinking I might get some back
What I didn't realize
Is that this was not so
But I gave it all away
Because I wanted to
But I got some back
Not what I wanted
But what I got
I ran with
Hoping the rest would follow
But it never did
So I gave it all away
Everything I had
For nothing
No good came from it
And now I'm empty inside
And lost on the outside
My expression's blank
No sign of emotion
What I gave I can never get back
What I gave I can never give again
What I gave was wasted and used
By someone who didn't truly care for me
With all of their heart
