My heart stops
I need to breathe
shocked at the thought
of what I had seen

I saw your face
your beautiful eyes
your dark brown hair
and your teeth that shine

You looked at me
I looked at you
you said those words
I love you

before I could say
I love you too
he was gone
on the airplane he flew

That was 30 years ago
on this very day
the day that felt like
a romantic play

I missed him so
so on the plane I flew
so I could say those words
I love you

When I got there
everything was bright
parents were smiling
children with delight

I rented a car
to get to terrence grove
to see his friend
so off I drove

he knew who I wanted
what I wanted to say
right then and there
on that very day

he looked at me
with sadness in his eyes
I was confused
I couldn't imagine why

he took me to him
and there I stood
infront of his grave
I did all I could

I came so far
and now i'm here
he is gone
far away from here

with tears in my eyes
feeling very blue
I said those words
I Love You.
