To Kill a Word

Wasted, overused, superficial bullshit excuse
You lost appreciation, I’ve gained a special hate
Steel shackles are broken memories
I’ve waited too long for you
This has the taste of something lost
Bitterness lasts a lifetime at least
Because loss instills itself deep within us
Remorse fades quietly away
And today a word was shattered against me
Today it lost all meaning
You break apologies across my face
And don’t ever fucking cry to me
