** Sorry for the false advertising, but this isn't a sex
poem.....submitting it as one seems to be the best (only) way to get people
to read it, because the sex category gets read the most. Thanks. - Alex **

slipping out of the cradle of my dreams
waking up to the sick green grin of the clock
gloating, telling me it's far too early
and tomorrow is long
hearing the shadows ask me to come out and play
stumbling through someone else's house
through a door that's not mine
into a neighborhood i've never seen before
walking alone through the chill moonless night
night wind pressing against my face like a rough kiss
thinking strange thoughts
running for no reason at all
cold air burning my lungs
racing the ghosts across the sky
feeling like i can do anything
looking up at the stars
searching for the face of god in all that blackness
seeing a million cold empty universes staring back
pondering the mysteries of life and creation
and the intricacies of the human heart
looking out at the lights of the city
reading in each glowing window
a hundred different stories
of a thousand different people
thinking of who's finding love
who's feeling lonely
who's crying
who's laughing
and wondering if anyone else is waking up in the dark
to walk this strange world with me
