Far Away Whispers

You, with your claws digging deep into my soul
So far away, yet you still have control
I can hear the sweet sighs
Almost taste your bitter lies
I can still hear the screams, your soft, seductive plea
Whispering, “My love, please come back to me,
Let me entrap you in my arms,
Save you from all of life’s little harms.”
I can still remember the way you’d feel
Blinding me, numbing me to things that were real
And I was such a willing slave
Willing to let you dig my grave-
Even now, that I’ve managed to pull myself away
I still dream about you at the end of the day
When everything seems too bleak
When I am feeling all too weak
And sometimes I wonder if it would really be so bad
To let you in again, regain what I had
Inhaling you, taking in your essence
Feeling you, feeling your presence
This is my need, I long once more for your kiss
Because you always made dying feel like bliss
