Empty Dream

I wish I cared about something
Maybe then I could justify my life.
Maybe then things would be different

But alas,
Here I am
I awake each day to the same melancholy
View

Nothing matters
Nothing’s new.

But alas,
I dream of eyes that would allow me to see
The world as it is meant to be viewed
Not in hues of black and grey
Not where night has overtaken the day

But a sight of colors warm and bright
Of sunshine and laughter
Of smiles and morning light.

But alas,
I fear these dreams will never be
For in myself I am indeed trapt
My dreams, I’ll never truly see.

Nothing matters
Nothing’s new.

I wish I could be anybody but myself
If only for a day or two
Maybe then I could breathe in the sweet aroma of life
Maybe those two days would give me the strength to survive
The dreary grey of my days ahead
And the horrorifying black of the images from my past.

But alas,
I fear my salvation will never be
From my nightmare there will be no release
The sunshine and laughter of the world shall continue to illude me

My cherished dream shall never come true
Nothing will ever matter
Nothing shall ever be new.
