Do not mock me
with your flattery!
I am not wholesome,
in honest purity.

You speak as though
I am a fragile rose,
and describe me as
nothing but snow.

Do not mock me
with your flattery!
I am no goddess
or princess- hardly.

You speak of gold,
and feathers and
more that I am
simply not so.

Do not mock me
with your flattery!
I am no poem-
not likely.

You write in a line
as though it were I,
and devinely, I must
resign of the kind.

Do not mock me
with your flattery!
I talk as a human,
no more beautifully.

You declare such love
that exists no where
but in the image you've
blindly dared to believe.
