Not Today

I try to convince myself
That it will all be ok
I'm prepared for the worst
Just not today.

I know I can't hold on
And I'll soon have to send her away
Heaven will be a better place
Just not today.

No matter how hard I cry
Or how many prayers I say
She'll be leaving me soon
Just not today.

All of her pain and suffering
Will disappear as she lay
In a peaceful slumber
Please, just not today.

She holds us all together
What will happen if she parts way?
We will be prepared for it tomorrow
Just not today.

Now everything is dark
From the sun, I see no ray
She's no longer with us
Tomorrow came today.
