Dead End

Standing with all doors wide open
Though I bear a single key
And choices leave me wondering
Just which doors for me

One key to fit the padlock
A lottery of dreams
This ticket shines with future
But which shall I redeem

For only one will take me
I've only but one key
I've become the gravedigger
For my own destiny

The widow dressed in black and lace
The rose she holds upright
The gaze that says a million words
While reminiscing life

The crowd that sheds their lullabies
The sleeping victim doomed
The maze dead-ended early
Upon the cold and frozen groom

Will I tear upon my life
Or do my feet still move
Can we live on choices
And at least die on truth

One key to fit the pathway
One key to fit my hand
A key in each to us our heart
A padlock to each man

But staring is my posture
Resentment in my eyes
Never knowing... Keys are worthless
For each door is open wide
