I Can Be Truer

I'm wondering what happened
To us, my friend.
You said that we had something
That could not end.
I read it in the cards
What we had was true
And could not be broken,
So I gave it all to you.

I ask you now,
How did this happen,
Please, tell me how.
You told me that you could never
Leave me.
But I guess that lying
Came too easy.

I'm stranded here
In an ocean of doubt
And with you gone
I've nothing to bail me out.

I'm in too deep
I'm over the edge
And I doubt
That Ill find a handy ledge
To hold on to
While I wait
And hope for you.

You said you'd be there
Through thick and through thin,
But I guess that was a vow
Your heart wasn't in.

You were the one
I trusted my life to,
And you were the one
Who didn't pull through.

So now when you need
I will be here,
With a heart to hold you
And a soul that's near.

I wont make your mistake
For us
And Ill let you
Give me your trust.
I will not fail you
And you will see
That I can be truer
For all your betrayal of me.
