He That Goes Quietly Into The Night

"It's a dream" I'd say between her tongue,
My reflection pans her eyes.
I'd wake to find instinct correct,
Another nightly lie.

I'd dawn to greet a lovers face;
A bright smile prepared.
But then my eyes would open wide
To find no lover there.

I'd look down upon your flawless name;
I'd call, I wanted to...
We'd talk until we fell asleep
But I'd wake forgetting you.

And all the while night returns,
Granting me your name.
I wake without a soul in mind,
And I repeat the chain.

I want so much to stay amidst
That fantasy, that daze.
But windows bright bring sad daylight,
And dreams begin to fade.

Could stronger men but stomache this?
I'm sure warriors have tried--
Just soldiers left with heavy chests
To the beating of a lie.

Resounding sounds of lovers lips,
The scent of bold perfume.
All clear as light when nights are young
But dead as day resumes.

So tell me when to drop this can,
It seems the perfect fit.
Sleeping pills distill my sadness,
And I can taste her lips.

A levied mind in place of time,
A prayer before I sleep.
The sunlight dimmed by tiny sins
And sad reality.
