Another Hopeless Day

As the day begins to unfold
The alarm cruelly blares reality
Dreams are broken by still dark skies
Another hopeless fatality

Roll out from the comfort of deception
Leave my pillows filled with deceit
I face the real world I can’t stand
Longing for retreat

Step morbidly to the shower
To wash away naive felicity
Start another day of regression
Drink up society’s toxicity

Turn the dial to half past hot
Incinerate another false hope
Wash away more fantasies
Drown them in morning’s soap

Cleanse my head from untainted thoughts
Put all illusions of happiness aside
I have to go face the real world
But I really would rather hide

So off I go to the land of the fake
Left my true self back in bed
I finish the last touches on my facade
I walk out my front door in dread
