Life-saving Love

In the shadows she tries to hide,
Secretly hidden behind walls of pride.
She has no friends, nobody cares,
About the weight of the burdens she bares.
She prays every night for only a friend,
Someone to love, a hand to lend.

He sits alone in the back of the class,
Often gets picked on, always picked last.
Finding himself confused about his life,
He decides to end it all with a knife.
So he sets the time and date,
Tells himself to show up not a moment too late.
~*~*~*~
The next day at school, they pass in the hall.
As their eyes lock, each one hears the other's call.
"Maybe this isn't the time that I need to die",
The boy thought to himself, as he tried not to cry.
"Could this be a sign to live another day?"
"Does this mean that soon I'll be ok?"

They're assigned as partners later in P.E.,
As they talk together, they start to see
That they're not quite alone in this world.
This is the story of a boy and a girl.
