Sorry, I forgot to say goodbye
as your soul drifted up into the sky
I was young, I didn't know
that it was now your time to go
I came and kneeled aside your bed
Daddy said be tough as he patted my head
It scared me to see you how you were
I grabbed your hand and felt you stir
A tear rolled down your great white cheak
as you opened one eye, to take a peak
You muttered my name, it made me cry
Then I knew, you were going to die
I laid a rose on your oak casket
and took a prayer book from the basket
I felt you beside me, I knew it was you
I wasn't alone, Daddy felt you there too
I felt a heavy hand on the top of my head
and in a low voice, "Grandpa" I said
That's how I knew that you were safe
Because it put a smile on my frowning face
