Where were You, God,
while I laid bloody among the sheets?
Where were You when I couldn't breathe?
Where were You when I wanted to die?
Where were You when I laid alone and cried?
Where were You when they laughed and stared?
Where were You when it seemed no one cared?

You were the hope that never came.
You were the clouds that brought the rain.
You were the people who'd never smile.
You were the added weight at every mile.
You were the stars that never shone.
You were the people that left me alone.
You were the fool who lost my trust.
You were the jerk who fulfilled his lust.

I wish someone would tell me where I could find
a piece of You and peace of mind.
"God is always there," they say,
and, "all you have to do is pray!"
But I want to see them die inside
and have faith in a God that will always hide.
