Broken Wings

A dark drop falls
into a winter wind.
Soft sweet kisses
against bitter skin.
Water drips down
until it floods my mind.
Even the lovely snowfall
commits the painless crime.
Dried flowers lie
in an open book,
so lifeless, yet beautiful,
a petal to be shook.
Enchanting waves
roll up against my feet,
begging me to come in closer.
The poison is so sweet.
Light drifts away.
Every heart has to freeze.
Shut down and wait
to be given what I need.
Nothing I can do
will make this go away.
I'm too stiff to move,
I have no choice but to stay.
