Don't tell me who my friends are,
It's not your right to choose.
My companions are there for me...
So don't say they're a bad influence.
You don't know them.
Don't tell me where my heart should be.
Maybe I don't care, yet maybe I do.
My soul may be black as night...
You don't know.
Just let me be.
Don't tell me what my feelings are.
You say I'm happy...
When truly, I'm dying inside.
Has it ever occured to you that I don't show it?
Maybe I have a secret.
Don't tell me to be myself,
And in the next breath say what to wear and how to act.
You're telling me two different things.
It doesn't make sense.
It's bad enough that I can't accept myself...
Don't rub it in.
Don't tell me I'm going nowhere.
It doesn't boost my confidence.
If I have a dream,
Let me work to the best of my ability to succeed.
And let me learn from my mistakes.
Eventually I will become something,
And maybe you wil be proud of me for being myself.
Just don't bring me down...
I can do that alone.
