A Rainy Day

Waking up to a gray covered sky.
Setting one's mood down from way up high.
Making some happy, making some cry.

A slight drizzle comes down lightly to the Earth.
While some sit around their fireplace hearth.
No one knows what this sad day will bring...
Who will be there to mend your broken wings?

The drizzle becomes harder and harder,
And the thunderstorm is not much farther.
Bringing lightning bolts that light up the clouds;
Thunder follows ever so loud.
While children's hearts are shaken with fear,
And their tiny little eyes are filled with tears.

The rickety-tickety-tick-tick
Slowly stops beating on the houses of brick.
Children's attention wonder to the new world outside.
As their intense fear fades away from deep down inside.
Across their face appears a slight hint of a smile.
Now, the rain was worth all the while.
