Goodbye To A Dear Friend

Kaboom! Just like thunder it fired at me
You suddenly appeared and 'twas there that you fell;

I took off my bandana of black and red
The streets were to be your terrible death bed
He told me, never forget him nor the streets
Was telling me "go home" In his special way
I knelt down getting ready to do my deed for the day
And said to him " I'll carry you in my heart."
Before I did the thing I must do to all to part
You said " here take this" and pulled out a small box
I said "I'll love you for always... I'm sorry"
I looked away as I covered mouth and nose
Your breathing had stopped, and I whispered to you...
"As long as I'm living my best friend you'll be."
At the moment I stopped the rain descended
All started running, all except me
I stayed right beside you for hours, I think
Silently letting the rain act as my tears
I knew you were with me; I heard your whisper
You said: "Say goodbye and let me R-I-P."
And so I bent down and kissed you on the cheek
Then lifted the necklace up off of your neck
I'll never be weak enough to cry for you
For I am to strong to let my feelings out
More than one person died on that lonely night
My all time best friends, Milton Copkins, and I
--
