Those Who Are Forgotten

Where are those who have fallen
Those too small to be sung great songs about
Great deeds from earlier chapters in their lives
Too miniscule are they that walk in the shadows
Of the greater men of might
Bravery, cunning and strength
Blocked from the sight of those that deliver
The news of their greatness
They stand in the darkness
Not daring to enter the light
They are truly heroes
They are those who dwell in thought
Not those who dwell under the eyes
Of such unforgiving spectators
Of the ones they once saved
How quickly they turn on you
In the light
The unsung heroes are the wiser
For they remain heroes in their own right
In the darkness of defeat.
