Dear Mother

Your child, your responsibility
You house, your mess
Your abandonment, my pain
Your neglect, my stress

Your daughter from your own womb
The one with which you don’t spend time
Is dependant on me for maternal care
Adopted as a child of mine

Your house in which you leave us
Is left for my hands to clean
Expect me to be responsible for your mess
You order and bitch and scream

Left to myself at the tender age of ten
Your alcohol takes your loyalty in greed
Your children are left uncared for
A real mother is what they need

Dear mother I am sorry we fight
You make it up to me by getting me high
A true mother you are indeed
To your own children you lie

A younger child at home by herself
No mother by her lonely side
I thought about how much I wanted a mother
On that lonely night I cried
