Ballad Of Fallen Angels

as i stand there blankly staring,
aimlessly into the sky
many thoughts flood my head
as i watch them silently cry
they fall down from the heavens
by the hundreds in amount
they're wings are tattered and torn
and i realize they've been cast out
and spotlights fall upon them
and twisting all around
the light appears for just an instant
as they tumble to the ground
their tears create and a crimson river
overflowing to my knees
and the red liquid rises higher
but still, they're all i see
and i hardly notice this rising flood
until i'm swallowed under
but even then, i still don't care
absorbed within the wonder
pale-skinned and fragile,
as delicate as a china doll
how could the heavens throw away such a being?
how could any of them be appalled?
and plunging into the ocean that they've created
they're swallowed to it's core
drowning in a crimson river,
my heart is painfully torn
to see such hopelessness,
such hurt and cutting sorrow
to see the fact that truly is,
there is no better tomorrow
and greatly honored to be one to witness
this act of all the stranger
who would have thought
there could have been such beauty
in a ballad of fallen angels
