A Feast Of Beauty

The table is set
The food is placed upon the set table
Steam rises from the hot plates and bowls as it sits uneaten
The smell wafts out of the room
Down the hall
And into the nostrils
Of the awaiting company
Eager to take their first bites
Walking in single file
From shortest to tallest
Is son
Daughter
Oldest son
And father
Mother stands so proud in front of her beautiful feast
The steam rising to meet the awaiting family
Now gathered around the set table
With its plates and bowls of food
Each member standing behind their chairs
Staring across the table at eachother
Smiling
The steam rises as the family sits down
The begin and eat and laugh and speak
They speak of the world outside
And how even the simplest of circumstances
Can destroy the largest of places
And how some day
All will be as splendid and good
As the feast they are taking part in
A world of wonderful smells
As wonderful as the steam
A feast certainly not soon to be forgotten
As the family rises from the table
Stuffed and tired
The steam falls and disappears
A tired father
A proud mother
Eager children
Eager for the next day
All eager for the next beautiful feast.
