Every Time That It Rains

I’ll never forget you
As long as I live.
You were so perfect.
There’s nothing I wouldn’t give
To have you back
Here in my arms,
To be with you always,
Lying beneath the stars.
I remember one night,
At the football game.
It was pouring and pouring
We were drenched from the rain.
When the game was over,
We got on the bus.
I thought for sure
Nothing could ever separate us.
You held me close
The entire way.
You said that you loved me;
You made my day.
Live your life to the fullest-
That’s what you said.
And I recall this now
As I lie in my bed.
The tears won’t stop falling,
This feels like a dream.
You can’t be gone
I just want to scream.
I can’t live without you
I just want to die.
To be with you, Joey
In your home in the sky.
I remember the last time
I saw your pretty face.
The memory lingers still-
It will never be erased.
I never got to taste
Your perfect, sweet kiss.
But I did get one dance,
My one fulfilled wish.
I think of you now,
Standing here in the rain.
Your tears falling down
To wash away my pain.
