One of my own
one of my family
facing death down
straight ahead with fear.
More than a fear of death
rather the loss of time
with the ones loved by him.
I love this man,
my provider of life,
my protector of my childhood,
my teacher and my counselor.
An unjust illness
now plagues his life
as a new battle to win
and a new challenge to overcome.
So many difficulties
have tried to beat him down,
break his spirit and steal his smile.
Yet he still holds the cards
of life within his hands.
He will only fold when its up,
when God has made his point,
that love is all you need,
and that love is reciprocal.
For he loved my brother
my sister and me.
But more importantly We
and I love him, You, my Father.
Father I don't know
how much longer you'll be around,
and I hope you know
if God needs you look up not down.
I fear death will end the show,
your part in my play profound.
I love you, whether your here
or in the ground.
I love You!
