The Ride

Wind blowing ever so harshly
Making strands of hair dance before my eyes
I stare into the road ahead
The yellow and white lines
Running under the car
And away from my sight
I look away from the lines
To see a car's light blinking
But only for a few moments
Before it went away
And the car was in front of my own
Curses were heard and my ears bled
The clouds are moving
Stop
A red glowing light is seen as all movement stops
An old woman crosses the street
Walking slowly for the light has sympathy
And holds it's change
Go
A green light shines
All movement begins again and life begins anew
The living road alive with the sound of screeching tires
And the smell of burnt rubber
Turning into a driveway
I can tell the ride is over
As I open my eyes.
