soulnocturnal

Gallantly standing high
Reach clawed branches toward the sky
Bound to the earth where your roots lie
Your amber leaves fall to the ground with a sigh

In the night touched by moonbeams
Whisper a song of cool mountain streams
Never will you fall apart at your seams
You call to the world in nightmarish dreams

Wind howls at night in your wake
Threatening your delicate limbs to break
With mighty strength you sway and shake
Hold fast to your roots for life's sake

High in your branches perches the raven
Calling wildly to all of your brethren
Here still stands the home you gave them
Bathe in the glory of this small piece of heaven
